Princeton University's Kristen Ward Named May 14 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Princeton University goalie Kristen Ward (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) totaled 18 saves over three games at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship hosted by San Diego State University to earn the May 14 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

A Second-Team All-Eastern Championship and All-Southern Division selection in 2012, she posted three saves in an opening loss to No. 3 University of Southern California (14-2 L), notched 10 stops versus No. 20 Iona College (9-5 W) in the consolation round and posted five stops in a fifth place game loss to No. 7 Loyola Marymount University (15-11 L) in helping the No. 10-ranked Tigers place sixth in the eight-team championship field.

The honor marks the 11th of her career as she was previously earned four honors in 2010 (February 22, March 1, March 22, April 12), one in 2011 (February 14) and five in 2012 (February 13, March 5, April 9, April 16, April 30) as the Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week.
