Fordham Men's Water Polo Aids Freshmen on Move-In Day

BRONX, N.Y. - All of them have been on campus for over two weeks for preseason practice. Some have even started their season already. But that didn't stop members of the Fordham University football, volleyball, men's soccer, water polo, cross country and cheerleading squads from spending part of their Sunday standing at the ready outside of the various dorms, helping the incoming freshmen unload their vehicles. This has become an annual event for the Rams, who come to the aid of the Office of Residential Life by lending a hand to make move-in day run smoothly.

The water polo Rams had the first shift from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., helping out at Martyr's Court as well as at Alumni North and South, hauling the heavy goods, including refrigerators, televisions and cases of water, up flights of stairs, gleaning admiration from parents and students who thought they would have to do the heavy lifting themselves. They were relived by the football Rams at 11:00 a.m. who were joined by members of the men's soccer team. The football squad also provided help at Tierney Hall. The volleyball squad and men's and women's cross country teams took over from football and men's soccer at Alumni North and South and Martyr's Court at 1:00 PM..

The water polo Rams open their 2010 season at the Navy Invitational on September 4th and 5th in Annapolis, Md.
