No. 20 University of Maryland Falls to No. 13 UC-Irvine, 15-2

IRVINE, Calif. -- Despite rainy conditions, No 13 University of California-Irvine got off to a strong start and never looked back in downing No. 20 University of Maryland, 15-2, at home.

The Anteaters (12-7) scored six first-period goals and took a commanding 8-0 lead into the locker room.

Danielle Warde scored a game-high four goals and Michaela Pierandozzi chipped in three for Cal Irvine which knocked off California Baptist University, 17-4, earlier in the day.

Jessica Ernst and Carly Hosko scored for the Terps (12-10), who put pressure on the Anteater defense but were unable to light the lamp.

UCI's Lauren Davis posted 12 saves and her backup, Katie Avetoom, added three.
