Bucknell University's Julianne Valdes Named March 21 Western Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University's Julieanne Valdes (Fr., Miami, Fla./Gulliver Preparatory) netted six goals with four assists, nine ejections drawn, five steals and a field block to earn the March 21 Western Division Rookie of the Week award.
Competing in the final five games of a West Coast swing, the Bison fell to No. 11-ranked Long Beach State University (13-4 L), No. 14 California State University-Santa Barbara (10-7 L) and No. 17 California State University-Northridge (11-9 L), while defeating Marist College (13-11 W) and California State University-San Bernardino (10-7 W).
Valdes, whoe scored in four of the five games, currently leads the Bison with 24 ejections drawn, while ranking second in goals (29) and points (44) this season.
Following a one goal, three ejections drawn performance against Long Beach State, she contributed two goals with an assist, two steals and two ejections drawn versus Marist. She chipped in two assists with a steal (CSU-Northridge), in addition to two goals and three ejections drawn (CSU-Santa Barbara) before wrapping up the trek to the Golden State with a goal, an assist, two steals, an ejection drawn and a field block in a win against CSU-San Bernardino.
