No. 4 University of Florida Chomps on No. 13 University of Texas, 10-4, in National Collegiate Club Championship First Round

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Sarah Wright (Sr., Oviedo, Fla.) posted a hat-trick to earn Player of the Game honors as No. 4 University of Florida took care of No. 13 University of Texas, 10-4, in the opening round of the 2012 National Collegiate Club Championship at Florida State University's Morcom Aquatics Center.

The victory advances the Gators to a meeting with No. 18 Lindenwood University at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 in the quarterfinals, while Texas falls into the consolation bracket and will meet No. 12 University of Oregon at 6:20 p.m. this evening.

Florida jumped out to an early lead in the game and never looked back as Carly Arnold (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) opened the scoring 11 seconds on a man-up chance before Texas' Abby Edwards (Sr., Houston, Texas) tied the game at the 5:29 mark. 

The Gators pushed the margin out to 3-1 by the end of the first quarer and 4-1 in the closing minutes of the first half as Wright ripped in the go-ahead score at 1:07 and Chrisandra Sanchez (Sr., Miami, Fla.) contributed a man-up goal with nine seconds left in the first period to hand Florida a two-goal lead after a period of play.

Wright built the lead to 4-1 to begin the second quarter by posting a man-up goal at the 1:58 mark of the second period as Florida carried a 3-1 lead into halftime.

Wright completed her hat-trick with 5:46 left in the third quarter by converting on a man-up chance at 5:46, while Texas' MJ Bollinger (Sr., Temple, Texas) responded at 5:39 to return the gap to three at 5-2.

Beth Moser (So., Orlando, Fla.) chipped in a natural goal at 3:59) and Ali Hoffman (So., Miami, Fla.) notched a man-up goal at 2:25 to make it a  7-2 game as the Gators began to coast to victory.

Caity Martin (Jr., Albuquerque, N.M.) pulled the Longhorns to within 7-3 with 53 seconds left in the third quarter, but the Gators snapped back by outscoring Texas 3-1 in the final quarter for the 10-4 victory.

Mary Kathryn Atkinson (Gr., Oviedo, Fla.) earned the win in cage with seven saves, while Bridgette McMahan (So., Houston, Texas) registered four saves in taking the loss.
