Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases 2012 Women's National Collegiate Club Week 5/March 1 Poll
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Four-time defending National Collegiate Club Champion California Polytechnic State University continues at No. 1 in the Week 5/March 1 Women's National Collegiate Club Poll.
The 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 National Collegiate Club champion, Cal Poly tabulated 95 points to narrowly hold off the University of Michigan (93 points) which remains at No. 2.
San Diego State University (91 points), which is the only team to defeat the Mustangs this year, moves from No. 9 to No. 3 this week, while the University of California-Santa Barbara (86 points) jumps from No. 7 to No. 4.
The University of Oregon (62 points) and University of Florida (60 points) slide to No. 5 and 6, respectively, while the University of California-Davis (59 points) and University of California-Santa Cruz (59 points) are tied at No. 7.
The University of Texas (53 points) and University of California-Berkeley (52 points) complete the Top 10, with Texas A&M University (48 points), University of California-San Diego (46 points), University of California-Irvine (46 points), Arizona State University (43 points) and Grand Valley State University (33 points) accounting for the next five positions.
At No. 16-to-20, the University of Notre Dame (31 points), University of Central Florida (27 points), Pennsylvania State University (26 points), Cornell University (12 points), University of Southern California (8 points) and University of California-Los Angeles (8 points) round out the ranked teams.
