2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Schedule & Scores

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- John Littlepage (Gr., Trinidad) came up big for No. 4 the University of Texas scoring four goals, while Player of the Game Hunter Henderson (Sr, Fort Worth, Texas) made 10 saves to stiffle the offense of No. 3 Arizona State University in a 10-9 Longhorns' victory in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Championship at Southern Utah University.

Courtesy the victory, the Longhorns advance to a semifinal match-up against No. 5 University of Miami at approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening, while ASU will clash with No. 11 University of Colorado at 5:50 p.m. with a berth in the fifth place game at stake for the Sun Devils.

Texas jumped out to a 1-0 lead to start the game as Littlepage scored at the 5:24 mark of the first period.  However, the Sun Devils received back-to-back scores via a man-up tally by Travis Dunn (So., Escondido, Calif.) at 2:42 and a natural tally by Wesley Sjoholm (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) at the first period horn to take a 2-1 lead.

The margin expanded to 3-1 in the first 25 seconds of the second period as Sjoholm buried his second even-strength marker of the day.  Littlepage shaved the lead back down to one with a strike at 4:41, but Sjoholm completed a hat-trick at 4:11 to restore the Sun Devils' two goal lead at 4-2.

Texas countered with man-up goals by Littlepage (3:35) and Bobby Woolweaver (Fr., Houston, Texas) (2:29) to tie the game at four-all, but Sjoholm took over the game with a man-up marker (2:02) and a natural goal (00:37) to post ASU to a 6-4 lead.

Ricardo Bello (So., Houston, Texas) trimmed the lead back down to a goal before the halftime horn as he bombed a shot from the outside to make it a 6-5 game.

Trailing the Sun Devils by only a goal, Texas went to work courtesy its mutliple stars.

Following a man-up goal by Dunn with 5:48 remaining in the third period, the Longhorns lowered their horns and plowed ahead as Woolweaver scored on an advantage chance (5:09) and Littlepage tossed in another marker (2:32) to knot the game at 7-to7.

The teams exchanged shots by their No. 13's as Arizona State's Alan Nguyen (Jr., San Jose, Calif.) and UT's Matthew Johnson (Sr., Houston, Texas) rolled the scoreboard over to 8-to-8 with man-up (1:41) and even-strength (1:26) strikes, respectively, before Justin Cotter (Sr., Houston, Texas) welcomed Texas back to the lead at 9-8 with a tally at the one second mark.

It marked the Longhorn's first lead since opening the contest with Littlepage's first marker back to the 5:24 mark of the first period.

ASU retied the game midway through the fourth period via a score by Nguyen (3:21), but Bello connected on a point-blank shot at 1:43 for the deciding factor.

For ASU, Sjoholm led the way with five goals, while Clay Solomon (So., Long Beach, Calif.) registered a pair of saves.
