Cornell University's Brie Reid Named April 4 New York Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brie Reid of Cornell University tallied 21 goals to lead the Big Red to the 2011 New York Division title and earn the April 4 New York Division Player of the Week award.
Playing at home as the Big Red hosted the New York Division Championship tournaemnt, she tallied five goals in a 12-7 victory over Colgate University before tossing in five more during a 16-3 victory over Syracuse University.
In the tournament semifinals against five-time division champion New York University (2002, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010), she ripped in six goals, including the game-winner in the first overtime period, to key the Big Red to a 10-9 victory.
Facing Columbia University in the title tilt, Reid brightened the scoreboard with seven markers in a 12-10 win against the Lions. The victory clinched Cornell's third New York Division crown (2005, 2006, 2011) and secured the team a berth in the National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Notre Dame on May 6-8.
