Princeton's Billy Tifft Named December 7 Men's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Princeton University's Billy Tifft (Fr., San Diego, Calif./The Bishop's School) helped the Tigers knock off No. 6-nationally ranked Loyola Marymount University in the 2009 NCAA Championship Third Place Game to earn the December 7 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.

He aided the Tigers in a 13-3 loss to No. 1-nationally ranked and eventual National Champion the University of Southern California in the semifinals before assisting Princeton in a 6-5 victory over LMU in the third place game.

Princeton finished third at the NCAA Championship marking the second time in three years an East Coast team has finished third at the championship.
