Johns Hopkins' Ross Schofield Named November 2 Men's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins University's Ross Schofield (Fr., Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) shot five-for-eight for five goals, two assists and four steals over the weekend to lead the Blue Jays to third place in the Southern Division and earn the November 9 Collegiate Water Polo Association Men's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.

Against Mercyhurst College in a 12-5 opening round victory, he scored back-to-back goals to put the Blue Jays in front to stay.  Following a one goal performance against No. 12-nationally ranked United States Naval Academy (12-9 L) in the semifinals, he scored twice against No. 20 Bucknell University (9-8 W OT) in the third place game.  His second goal against the Bison with 1:20 left in overtime proved to be the game-winner and clinched the No. 3 seed out of the Southern Division for the 2009 Men's Eastern Championship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology next weekend.
