NYU Rolls Over Grove City College 13-7 in Division III Club Championship First Round

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- David Myre (Gr., Mercer Island, Wash.) scored six goals to earn Player of the Game honors as New York University cruised past Grove City College 13-7 in the opening round of the 2009 Men's Division III National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by Bowdoin College. The Bobcats will next face either Tufts or Grinnell in the semifinals.

NYU ran out to a 7-2 lead by halftime and never looked back outscoring the Wolverines 6-3 in the third period to carry a 13-5 lead into the final period of play.

The key to the game was NYU's offensive onslaught in the middle 14 minutes of the game as the Bobcats outscored Grove City 11-4 during the second and third periods, including a 5-1 scoring advantage in the second period, to build a lead the Wolverines could not cut into in the second half.

Morgan Alcalay (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) added a pair of scores and Markus Quinn (Sr., Somers, N.Y.) chipped in a hat-trick as the Bobcats advance to face the victor of a first round game between Tufts University and Grinnell College at 7:45 p.m. in the semifinals.  Grove City will meet the loser of the Tufts-Grinnell game at 6:30 p.m. with a berth in the fifth place game on the line.

For Grove City, Lincoln Larsen (Sr., Federal Way, Wash.) led six Wolverines' scorers as he tacked on two tallies to key the offense.

In cage, Matt Green (Sr., Avon, N.Y.) made five saves for Grove City, while Gleb Sidorkin (Gr., Novosibirsk, Russia) recorded six saves to earn the victory.
