CWPA Ranks Among Best in October 27 National Men's Water Polo Statistics

October 27 Men's National Statistics

BALTIMORE, Md. -- 15 of the nation's Top 50 scorers and eight of the country's Top 29 goalies are currently playing in the Collegiate Water Polo Association as the league ranks among the individual and team leaders in the October 27 Men's Varsity National Water Polo Statistics.

In the team statistics, eight of the nation's 31 most potent scoring offenses are in the CWPA as Washington & Jefferson College (7th, 11.38 gpg), Gannon University (11.15 gpg), Johns Hopkins University (10.77 gpg), United States Naval Academy (10.65 gpg), Fordham University (14th, 10.43 gpg), Bucknell University (18th, 9.87 gpg), George Washington Univeristy (29th, 7.62 gpg) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (31st, 7.11 gpg) are rated among the leaders this week.

On defense, Navy (10th, 8.04 gpg) leads the league, while Johns Hopkins (15th, 9.04 gpg), Fordham (19th, 9.52 gpg), W&J (21st, 9.77 gpg), MIT (23rd, 9.94 gpg), Bucknell (24th, 10.30 gpg), George Washington (25th, 10.31 gpg) and Gannon (29th, 11.95 gpg) also rank in the National Top 30 in scoring defense.

Individually, four of the nation's top scorers are competing in the league as George Washington's John-Claude Wright (3rd, 59, 2.27 gpg), Fordham's Mikey Edwards (T-4th, 55, 2.39 gpg) and Ali Arat (6th, 52, 2.26 gpg) and Johns Hopkins Kyle Gertridge (T-7th, 49, 1.88 gpg) lead 15 players in goals.

In cage, half of the top goalies are on East Coast teams with Hopkins Jeremy Selbst (3rd, 209 saves, 9.28 spg), George Washington's Cameron Illes (4th, 206 saves, 10.05 spg), Fordham's Christian Flessner (8th, 177 saves, 8.05 spg), MIT's Columbus Leonard (9th, 164 saves, 10.25 spg) and Bucknell's Nick Donahue (10th, 162 saves, 7.04 spg) ranking in the Top 10 in saves. Overall, eight CWPA goalies are among the Top 21 as Gannon's Neal Zoellick (12th, 154 saves, 7.70 spg), Navy's Brett Rajchel (16th, 139 saves, 7.32 spg) and W&J's John Todd (21st, 124 saves, 11.27 spg) also rank among the leaders.
