Hopkins Handles George Washington 8-3 in CWPA Southern Division-East Region Action

WASHINGTON, DC -- Junior goalie Jeremy Selbst (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) turned in a 15-save performance for the Johns Hopkins University water polo team as the Blue Jays beat George Washington University 8-3 in CWPA Southern Division-Eastern Region action. The Blue Jays improve to 14-13 overall and 2-5 in the CWPA Southern Division, while the Colonials slip to 7-20, 0-7 CWPA).

Hopkins took a 2-1 lead after the first period, but found itself in a 3-3 tie heading into the half. Selbst and the Blue Jays defense locked down in the second half, holding the Colonials scoreless over the final two periods. The Hopkins offense chipped in five goals over the final two periods to account for the 8-3 final.

Selbst's 15 saves are a career-high and mark his 13th double-digit save game of the season. Senior Kyle Gertridge (Gunn Prep, Calif./Paolo Alto) led the Blue Jays with a hat trick, giving him a team-high 52 goals on the year. Also scoring for JHU were seniors Peter Sauerhoff (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs), Reid Fox (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), Antonio Aguilera (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and junior John Barrett (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Fenwick).

John-Claude Wright scored a pair of the Colonials, while Cray Rogers also had a goal. Freshman goalie Cameron Iles had 11 saves in the cage for GW.
