Monmouth's Jeff Skalon Named October 26 Heartland Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Monmouth College's Jeff Skalon made his two goals in the Heartland Division title game count scoring in overtime to tie the game and in sudden death OT to give the Fighting Scots the victory. For his performance, he was named the October 26 Heartland Division Player of the Week.

Monmouth, which concluded the division schedule with a perfect 11-0 mark, earned the division's automatic bid to the Division III National Collegiate Club Championship at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine as the Scots will seek to capture their first national championship.

Against Macalester College in the opening round of the Heartland Division tournament, Skalon tallied a goal to help Monmouth to a 12-7 win before posting two steals and a pair of assists against Carleton College (12-5 W) in the semfinals.

Against Grinnell College in the title game, he scored in overtime to tie the game at 5-5 before burying a seven-meter shot in "sudden death" for a 6-5 victory.  In addition, he posted two steals and a pair of field blocks as the Fightin' Scots captured their second consecutive Heartland Division championship.
