WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior William Kidston (Pawleys Island, S.C./Northfield Mt. Hermon) exploded for a career-high seven goals, including four in the first quarter, as Washington & Jefferson won its second-straight match at the 2009 CWPA Division III Eastern Championship, holding off Connecticut College by a 16-11 margin.
Washington & Jefferson trailed 5-4 after the first period despite Kidston's four-goal effort. W&J fought back to claim a 9-8 halftime advantage and then tallied seven of the match's final 10 goals to run away with the win.
Senior goalie John Todd (Joppa, Md./Calvert Hall) once again paced the defensive effort with 13 stops.
Sophomore Andy Rish (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and freshman Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) both added three goals for W&J, while junior Bill Krause (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) contributed a two-goal effort.
Senior Steve Hilty (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) also netted a third-quarter goal.
Connecticut College was led by junior Sam Mitchell's six goals. Freshman goalie Clayton Whitter amassed 17 saves.
