Columbia's Alexandre Wright Named October 12 New York Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Columbia University goalie Alexandre Wright (Sr., Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) posted 32 saves, three assists and five steals in 112 minutes between the pipes to lead the Lions to a 4-0 record at the final regular season division tournament and earn the October 12 New York Division Player of the Week award.

He opened the tournament, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with back-to-back shutouts of Colgate University (18-0 W) and Binghamton University (19-0) before allowing six goals versus Syracuse University (13-6 W) and Cornell University (8-1 W) combined as the Lions outscored their division opponents 58-7 on the weekend.

In addition, he handed out three assists and grabbed five steals to fuel Columbia to finish off an 8-0 regular season division record and clinch the No. 1 seed for the upcoming New York Division Championship on October 31-November 1 at Colgate University.
