Brown Overcomes Harvard 15-8 in CWPA Northern Division Competition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Led by Svetozar Stefanovic’s five goals, the Brown men’s water polo team earned a thrilling 15-8 win against Harvard on October 10 at Blodgett Pool.

Brown gained a 3-2 advantage after the first eight minutes of play, and then used a 6-0 second quarter run to put away the Crimson for good. Harvard held a 3-2 scoring advantage over the Bears in the third quarter, but Bruno scored four goals to Harvard’s three in the fourth to earn the win.

"It was a total team effort tonight," said Brown head coach Felix Mercado. "I felt that we controlled the game from the opening whistle. Hopefully we can build on this momentum."

Stefanovic led the attack with his five goals, while also adding two steals, an assist and three ejections drawn. Junior Gordon Hood followed with three goals, and Ryan Gladych knocked in two. Also adding goals was senior Zach Levko, Corey Schwartz, Dean Serure and Cyrus Mojdehi. Levko also chipped in with two assists and three steals.

Kent Holland led the defense with seven saves in three quarters, and was relieved by sophomore Max Lubin, who picked up three saves in the final eight minutes of play.
