Brown's Lauren Presant Earns Invite to Speedo Top 40

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Lauren Presant (Sr., Poway, Calif./Poway) of the Brown University women's water polo team has been invited to the 2009 Speedo Top 40, U.S. National Team head coach Adam Krikorian announced on September 28. The three-day event runs from Oct. 23-25 at the USA Water Polo National Training Center. 

The 40 players will split into four teams -- Psychedelic Swirls, Electric Beat, Sonic Surf and Fluid Flight - to compete in a round-robin style tournament while being evaluated by USA National team staff. Players will be vying for selections to the Senior "A", Senior "B", Junior and Youth teams.

The 2009 Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Player of the Year, she has been a key contributor during her three years with the Bears. She earned First Team All-North and All-East honors last year, and led the team in scoring with 118 points (100 goals, 18 assists). She also led the team in steals (54) and combined for 48 ejections drawn.

A three-time All-Northern Division selection, with Second Team honors as a freshman and First Team accolades the past two seasons, she has twice earned All-East notice with Second Team honors in 2008. A spring Academic All-Ivy selection, she earned a spot on the CWPA Women’s Scholar-Athlete team the past three seasons.
