CWPA Releases 2009 Division II Eastern All-Tournament Team
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. --
The Collegiate Water Polo Association has released the 2009
Division II Eastern All-Tournament Team as selected by the coaches
from Gannon University, Mercyhurst College and Queens College
(N.Y.). Mercyhurst College's Alex Moggridge (Jr., Ottawa,
Ontario/Nepean), who led his team to the title, was named
Most Valuable Player.
Joining Moggridge on the All-Tournament team are fellow Lakers'
field players Kane Ashton (Jr., Orlando, Fla./Lake
Mary) and William Page (Fr., St. Louis, Mo./St.
Louis University) in addition to goalkeeper Andy
Sekulski (Jr., Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) who helped
Mercyhurst defeat Queens (23-18 OT W) and Gannon (9-6 W).
Greg Naranjo (Jr., Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman
Douglas) and Dmitriy Simonoff (Jr., Vernon Hills,
Ill./Stevenson) of Gannon Univeristy and Queens'
Srdan Milic (Jr., Dubrovnik, Croatia/Riverside Community
College) round out the six field players selected to the
All-Tournament Team.
The 2009 Division II title marked the third consecutive
championship for Mercyhurst as the Lakers previously captured the
2008 and 2007 titles.
