Eight Men's Collegiate Club Divisions to Compete This Weekend

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Teams in the Atlantic, Florida, North Atlantic, Northwest, Pacific Coast, Rocky Mountain, Southeast and Texas Divisions will be in competition on October 2-4 as the men's National Collegiate Club season continues for another week.

Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division schedule will resume this weekend at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. as the Wolfpack hosts University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech), University of Richmond and Duke University in a 12-game tournament on October 3-4.

Florida Division

The Florida Division regular season will effectively wrap-up this weekend at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. as the Seminoles host University of Miami, Florida International University, University of Central Florida, University of Florida "A" and University of Florida "B" in a 12-game tournament.

The tournament should set the seedings for the Florida Division Championship on October 31-November 1 at Brevard Community College-University of Central Florida YMCA Aquatic Center in Cocoa, Fla.. 

FIU enters the weekend with a one-game lead over Florida "A" and a two-game advantage versus Florida State in the race for the No. 1 seed.  Florida "A", which will have a single game versus Florida "B" remaining on the schedule prior to the division championship, will need to knock off FIU in a rematch of a 20-11 victory by the Golden Panthers on September 12.  If Florida can defeat FIU by more than nine goals, and not lose another game this weekend, the Gators will clinch the No. 1 seed.  However, if FIU can knock off Florida "A" for a second time or not lose by nine or more goals, and hold off a challenge from Florida State, the Golden Panthers will lock up the No. 1 seed.

North Atlantic Division

The North Atlantic Division will also wrap-up its regular season slate of games this weekend as Trinity College (Conn.), U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Tufts University, University of Vermont, Colby College, Bates College and Bowdoin College will converage on Amherst College in Amherst, Mass. on October 2-4 for a 13-game tournament to decide the seedings for the division championship on October 16-17 at Bowdoin.

Overall, the race for the No. 1 seed will be one of the tightest in the league this year as Amherst (4-0), Tufts (4-0), Coast Guard (3-1) and Bowdoin (2-2) all retain a chance at clinching the top spot.  In the meetings between the four on September 19-20 at the University of Vermont during the first divsional event of the year, Amherst sank Coast Guard (14-13 OT) and Bowdoin (15-14), while Tufts held off Bowdoin (15-10).

This weekend is sure to feature a slew of quality games as Coast Guard meets Tufts and Bowdoin, Amherst squares off with Tufts, while Tufts wrangles with Coast Guard, Bowdoin and Amherst.

Northwest Division

The Amazon Aquatics Center in Eugene, Ore. will be the site of the first Northwest Division tournament as University of Washington, Oregon State University, Western Washington University, Central Washington University, University of Oregon and University of Portland will clash in a 14-game event on October 3-4 for the early lead in the division standings.

Pacific Coast Division

The Pacific Coast Division ignites this weekend with a pair of events as University of California-Los Angeles and University of California-Santa Cruz will both serve as host sites.

At UCLA, University of California-Irvine, University of California-Santa Barbara, University of San Diego, University of California-San Diego, San Diego State University, University of Southern California and California Polytechnic State University will meet on October 3-4 for 16-games with each contest having implications for the National Collegiate Club Poll released each Thursday during the season.

Up North, UC-Santa Cruz will see University of California, California State University-Maritime Academy, California State University-Chico, Fresno State University, Saint Mary's College, University of California-Davis "A", University of California-Davis "B", Stanford University and San Jose State University invade the Banana Slugs home on October 3-4 for a 20-game marathon that will also impact the national poll.

Rocky Mountain Division

The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. will serve as a neutral site host for the second and final Rocky Mountain Division tournament of the regular season on October 3-4.  

Air Force JV, which will play University of Utah "A", Denver Masters, Colorado State University and University of Colorado "A" during the 14-game tournament, will also serve as host for University of Colorado "B", University of Utah "B" and University of Denver as the six division teams battle it out for position with the Rocky Mountain Championship set for October 16-18 at University of Denver.

Southeast Division

Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. will serve as host of the second and final Southeast Division tournament of the regular season as the Tigers will take on Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Vanderbilt University, Auburn University, University of Tennessee and University of Georgia.

The 12-game event on October 3-4 will decide the seedings for the division championship on October 24-25 at University of Georgia as Vanderbilt (4-0), Georgia Tech (4-0) and Clemson (2-2) have a chance at earning the No. 1 seed this weekend.

Texas Division

Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas will be the site of the final Texas Division regular season tournament as the Aggies, Baylor University, University of Houston, Rice University, Texas Tech University, Texas State University, University of Texas "A" and University of Texas "B" will meet for 16-games.

Texas "A" (4-0), Texas A&M (3-1), Texas Tech (3-1) are within striking distance of earning the No. 1 seed, while the rest of the division will seek to clinch high berths for the division championship on October 24-25 at Houston.
