Arizona State Maintains No. 1 Ranking in September 24 Men's National Collegiate Club Top 20 Poll
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Arizona State University garnered 98 points to hold onto the No. 1 spot in the September 24 Men's National Collegiate Club Top 20 Poll. ASU, which took over the No. 1 ranking for the first time this season last week, outdistanced California Polytechnic State University for the top of the poll by five points.
Cal Poly, which entered the season ranked No. 2 in the country and slipped to No. 3 in the September 17 poll, returns to the runner-up position this week as the Mustangs earned 93 points. Florida International University also moved up one place to take over the No. 3 spot in the poll, while University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) jumped seven places to No. 4 for the largest improvement by a team in the Top 10 this week.
University of Michigan and University of Florida remain at No. 5 and 7, respectively, to round out the teams that held onto their Top 10 rankings from last week. University of Arizona and University of Oregon rose to No. 6 and 8, respectively, while Michigan State University fell three places to No. 9. Lindenwood University joins UCLA as the only newcomers to the Top 10 as the Lions moved up to No. 10 after ranking 16th last week.
The rankings continued to be jumbled from the September 17 poll in the next 10 of the Top 20 as University of Texas moved back to No. 11, Pennsylvania State University slipped 10 places to No. 12, Grand Valley State University moved to No. 13, University of Utah progressed to No. 14.
University of Colorado, University of California-Berkeley, Texas A&M University, University of Illinois, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) rank No. 15-19, while University Pennsylvania and Yale University are tied for 20th.
The next Men's National Collegiate Club Poll will be released on October 1.
