Fordham's Mikey Edwards Named September 21 Varsity Northern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Fordham University's Mikey Edwards (Jr., Walnut, Calif./Rowland) netted 20 goals, five steals and two assists to lead the Rams to a sixth place finish at the 2009 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and earn the September 21 Northern Division Player of the Week award.

Playing five games in three days at ECACs after earning a No. 7 seed, the Rams defeated Northern Division foes Connecticut College (17-4 W), Harvard University (8-4 W) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (10-4 W), while falling to No. 20-nationally ranked Princeton University (13-9 L) and Bucknell University (13-11 L).

Against Connecticut, Edwards punched in seven goals before chipping in two markers versus Princeton and a hat-trick against Harvard.  He wrapped up the tournament by tacking on four goals against MIT before adding four markers versus Bucknell.

A transfer from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California and a two-time Junior College All-America selection, leading the state in scoring in each of those seasons, he is the first Fordham player to earn Player of the Week honors since Timmy Will '09 (October 13, 2008).
