CWPA Releases Revised 2009 Men's Atlantic Club Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has released an updated schedule for the men's Atlantic Division. The schedule of games on the opening weekend at Saint Mary's College in Saint Mary's, Md. has been revised with new game times assigned beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 and 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 27.

The Atlantic Division will feature Georgetown University, James Madison University, Loyola College, University of Maryland, Saint Mary's College, Duke University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, University of Richmond, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and University of Virginia this year and has proven to be one of the most competitive divisions in the CWPA.

Following the opening weekend at Saint Mary's College, the season will continue on October 3-4 at North Carolina State.  On the heels of a three-day tournament on October 9-11 at James Madison to conclude the regular season, the teams will convene at Virginia on October 17-18 for the division championship to decide which squad earns the division's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Florida.

Overall, six teams have won the division title since 2000 as Richmond (2000), Georgetown (2001, 2002, 2005), Virginia (2003), North Carolina (2004), Virginia Tech (2006, 2007) and Duke (2008) have all captured the championship and earned the division's bid to the National Championship Tournament.
