Brown University's James McNamara Selected to USA Junior National Water Polo Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown University incoming freshman James McNamara (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) earned selection to the USA Junior National Water Polo team that will be competing in the 2010 Union Americana de Natacion (UANA) Junior Pan American Cup on the campus of Gulliver Prep High School in Miami, Fla. on August 10-16. Following Olympic Development tryouts, McNamara was chosen for the Junior Team training squad and made the final cut to represent Team USA.

"When James gave me the news that he was selected I was very proud of him," said Felix Mercado, head water polo coach at Brown. "It is a great opportunity for him and shows the level of student-athletes we are bringing into Brown University. I know he will represent Brown well and I look forward to coaching him in the fall."

The 6'-3" right-handed attacker not only was selected to the USA Junior National training team, but he was also selected to the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Coastal Zone Junior Team. He earned CIF Division I first team honors, as well as the 2009 High School All-Southern California team. A 2009 Daily News Player of the Year, he currently plays for Los Angeles Water Polo Club team.
