Kristin Hoogenboom '06 Listed Among Michigan's Best from Oregon

Michigan's Leaders and Best in 50 States

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kristin Hoogenboom '06 is listed among the honorable mentions for the state of Oregon as the University of Michigan is compiling Leaders and Best in 50 States, a comprehensive list of the best athletes to wear the Maize & Blue from each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

A 2006 Western Division second team selection, the Portland, Ore. native helped lead the Wolverines to  four consecutive Western Division crowns and a 110-45 record from 2003-06, including 30 wins in 2004.  In 2005, she aided Michigan in going 29-14 as the Maize &  Blue captured the program's first Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship title.

At the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship, she put home three goals, including a pair in an 13-7 second round victory over the University of Redlands.  She tacked on a solo marker in the Wolverines' final game of the day, a 10-5 loss to Loyola Marymount University.

In 2006, she earned Player of the Week honors on May 3 for leading the Wolverines in scoring at the CWPA Eastern Championship with 11 points on seven goals and four assists. She also collected three drawn ejections and a trifecta of steals in the three contests. In a quarterfinal match against Brown University, Hoogenboom factored on five of Michigan's six goals in the 6-5 win as she scored three times and assisted on two others. She also recorded a field block and drew one ejection against the Bears. In the semifinals against Princeton Univeristy, the Sunset High School graduate had a team-high two assists to go along with one score, while also forcing two steals to guide the Maize & Blue to an 8-5 victory over the Tigers. In her final collegiate game, she scored a hat trick, registered two steals and drew two ejections in an 11-8 loss to Hartwick College in the CWPA Eastern Championship title game

Academically, she earned honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) and CWPA in 2005 and 2006, while garnering University of Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement accolades from 2003 through 2006.
