2010 Princeton University Schedule
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Eastern Champion Princeton University Tigers recently announced the program's 2010 schedule of games. Beginning on September 10-12 at home for the Princeton Invitational and running until at least the Eastern Championship at Bucknell University, the Tigers will seek to win back-to-back Eastern crowns and once again advance to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
Princeton, which finished third at last year's NCAA Championship hosted by the Tigers, will open the year when last season concluded by hosting the three-day Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool with the likes of Santa Clara University, California Baptist University, and CWPA foes Harvard University, George Washington University and Iona College. A week later, Princeton will travel to Harvard to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on September 18-19, an event the Tigers hosted and finished as the runners-up to the United States Naval Academy a season ago.
The Tigers will travel south the final weekend of September for a league weekend at Johns Hopkins University, Navy and George Washington on September 25-26, before traveling to California for the SoCal Tournament on October 2-3 at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).
Princeton returns to DeNunzio the following weekend for a single league game against Bucknell University on Octobere 9. A week later Princeton hosts Johns Hopkins and Navy on October 16 and travels to Bucknell on October 17. Princeton completes the league slate on October 23 against George Washington at home.
Although the next weekend marks the start of fall break, the Black and Orange will continue to play hosting the Ivy Tournament at DeNunzio Pool on October 30-31. The event will feature the three varsity programs in the Ivy League - Princeton, Brown University and Harvard - and the club teams of the other five Ivy League schools (Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Yale University, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania).
The Ivy tournament wraps up the regular season before Princeton and the rest of the Southern Division travel to Navy for the Southern Championship on November 5-7. The top four teams from the South and North will then converage on Bucknell for the 2010 CWPA Eastern Championship with a berth in the NCAA Championship at the University of California-Berkeley on December 4-5 on the line.
