BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- St. Francis College (N.Y.) men's water polo coach Igor Samardzija recently announced that five student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Terriers in 2010.
6'-2" Andrew Reed (Mesa, Ariz.), 6'-2" Bosko Stankovic (Belgrade, Serbia), 6'-0" Tyler Perkins (Pennsylvania), 6'-2" Marko Dzigurski (Novi Becej, Serbia) and 6'-3" Igor Mladenovic (Serbia) will round out the class of 2014.
"I'm extremely excited about these five student-athletes and we are looking forward to working with them beginning in August," said Samardzija. "I believe all of them will make a huge impact for us over  the next four years and will help us in our goal of winning a national championship."
A lefty utility player, Reed played in the Junior Nationals/Zone for the last four years. He comes to St. Francis with an extensive swimming background as he holds the Skyline High School record in the 500 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and the 400 free relay. He was selected this summer to the National Training program and was invited to the selection camp for USA Water Polo.
Stankovic, a member of the Beograd Water Polo Club since 1997, will play the center spot for the Terriers. As a member of the Serbian Youth National Team, he participated in three preparation camps for the national selection of Serbia.  He won two National Youth championships and his team captured the XII World Junior Fina Cup.
Perkins played at McDowell High School in Pennsylvania and is expected to contribute as a utility player. Perkins is a hard worker who is looking forward to improving his play under Samardzija’s guidance.
At 260-pound, Dzigurski is a physical specimen who has been playing water polo for PVK Becej for the last 10 years. Dzigurski, who will play center and guard, was selected for the Regional Team of Vojvodina as well as the National Youth Team of Serbia. He received a Presidential Scholarship from St. Francis.
Mladenovic, a goaltender, is a member of the Serbian National Junior and played his club ball for Beograd. In 2007, he helped lead his team to the Balcanic gold medal in Romania as well as a first-place finish in the European Championships in Malta. The team also captured bronze medals at the European Championsips in 2008 (Istanbul, Turkey) and 2009 (Greece).
