Princeton University Announces Class of 2014 Men's Water Polo Recruits

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton University head men's water polo coach Luis Nicolao has announced the four recruited student-athletes that will join the Tigers' team next fall as the Class of 2014.   The newcomers will join a program which is coming off a third place finish at the 2009 NCAA Championship and captured the Tigers' third Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship.

11 - Kurt Buchbinder, Attack, Long Beach, Calif., The Chadwick School

Kurt Buchbinder attended Chadwick School and holds the school's single-season record with 138 goals and 78 steals, and a pair of career records with 341 goals and 225. Buchbinder was a three-time first-team Daily Breeze All-Area pick for water polo, a three-time first-team All-CIF, a three-time first-team All-Prep League honoree and was the league's Co-MVP for both water polo and swimming as a senior. Buchbinder also made the Daily Breeze All-Area team for swimming as a junior. Buchbinder was team captain in his junior and senior years, was on the Coastal Zone ODP travel team as a junior, and was Academic All-America. Buchbinder has been a member of Los Angeles Water Polo Club for four years and has been on a LAWPC Junior Olympic team three times. Buchbinder was Chadwick ASB President his senior year.

1 - Ben Dearborn, Goalie, Palo Alto, Calif., Sacred Heart Prep

Ben Dearborn competed for four years on the Sacred Heart Prep water polo team, the last two as the starting varsity goalie. As a junior, his team was co-champion of the WCAL and the CCS Division 2 Champion. Dearborn received first-team All-WCAL and second-team All-CCS honors as a junior. As a senior, his team again was WCAL and CCS Division 2 Champion. Dearborn received first-team All-WCAL and was named CCS Co-Player of the Year. He was also named Cal-Hi Sports Scholar Athlete of the Fall Semester. As a senior, he was also named Palo Alto Daily News Player of the Year, and was named a third-team All-America. Dearborn also competed for Stanford Water Polo Club, and during the 16 and under Junior Olympics, his team won the tournament and he was named MVP of Junior Olympics. As an 18 and under the next year, his team took third in the tournament.

10 - Ford Spencer, 2m/2md, North Hampton, N.H., Phillips Exeter Academy

Ford Spencer captained the water polo team at Phillips Exeter as a senior, where he led the team in goals and ejections drawn for the past two seasons. Spencer was named to the New England All-Tournament Team after his team finished second at the event. Spencer was also named to the All-Tournament Team of the Greenwich Tournament where the team placed third.

15 - Connor Still, 2m/2md, Menlo Park, Calif., Sacred Heart Prep

Connor Still was a four-year varsity letterwinner in water polo and swimming at Sacred Heart Prep. Still served as his team's captain as a senior and was a first-team all-league and All-CCS selection as his team won its third-straight CCS Championship. Still was also a first-team all-league and All-CCS selection as a junior. Still has also played for the Stanford Water Polo Club since 2002 and was a first-team All-America after his team won the 2008 Junior Olympics. The team placed third a year later.
