Danielle Wilson Named Penn State Behrend Female Co-Athlete of the Year

ERIE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State University-Erie, The Behrend College recently announced the university's 2009-2010 Female Athlete Award Winners.  The Behrend Lions' Athletic Staff and athletes gathered for their annual Athlete Awards picnic to announce the winners.

Penn State Behrend seniors Danielle Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) and Brooke Gallentine were both named Behrend Co-Athlete of the Year for their hard-work and commitment to excellence throughout their respective seasons'.  Wilson was a two-sport athlete who competed in both water polo and swimming and Gallentine was part of a volleyball team that finished second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and earned an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bid. 

Wilson was a standout swimmer who contributed to her team in many ways.  She was a leader by example and displayed what it takes to compete at a high level.  She was a first-team All-AMCC selection in the 200 free relay as well as the 800 free relay.  In addition, she earned second-team honors in the 500 freestyle and the 200 freestyle events.  She also showed her talents in the pool as one of the key performers for the water polo team which finished the season in eighth place at the 2010 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship at Utica College.
