BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's Kelsey Campbell (Jr., Maple Ridge, B.C./Maple Ridge Secondary) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine University Division Academic All-District V At-Large First Team. She will now go on the ballot for national Academic All-America honors. The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Team is due to be announced on June 8.

Campbell, a Business and Entrepreneurship major, started in all 32 games for the women’s water polo team and helped lead the squad to a 21-11 record, as well as a No. 12 ranking in the final Varsity Top 20 released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) on May 19.

Further, she recorded 30 goals, 21 assists, 34 steals, and 18 earned exclusions during the 2010 season. She had seven multi-goal games during the year, including a season-high of three scores in an 8-3 win over Wagner on March 28. She was also named CWPA Western Division Defensive Player of the Week on April 26 after grabbing a career-high eight steals in the Western Championship semifinal win over Mercyhurst. For her career, Campbell has 99 goals, 77 assists, and 94 steals.

She is one of five CWPA women's varsity student-athletes named to an All-District team joining District II College Division selections Jessica Barby of Washington & Jefferson College (First Team) and Colleen Harriger of Gannon University (Third Team), District I College Division honoree Phoebe Bakanas of Connecticut College (Third Team) and District II University Division pick Marissa Stamler of George Washington University (Second Team).

The District V region includes teams in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba. Only athletes named to the first team qualify for the national ballot. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.

The At-Large Team is comprised of female athletes in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo to mark the largest Academic All-America division in the program.
