Marissa Stamler Named 2010 George Washington Women's Water Polo Team MVP
WASHINGTON, D.C -- Marissa Stamler (Sr., Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) was named the women's water polo team's Most Valuable Player at George Washington University's annual Senior Honors Luncheon.
She had the best season of her four-year career in 2010, leading GW with 51 goals and 74 points to earn Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year. Her 51 goals were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and helped her earn the Southern Division Player of the Week award twice this season.
Stamler ranks fourth all-time at GW in points and fifth in goals and assists. The international affairs major has also been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Scholar-Athlete Team three times and is a two-time CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team selection.
