Indiana's Cassie Wyckoff Named May 3 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University goalie Cassie Wyckoff (So., Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) tallied 23 saves and three steals in 96 between the pipes to lead the No. 14-ranked Hoosiers to a runner-up finish at the 2010 Eastern Championship at the University of Maryland and earn the May 3 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
The award marks her third Defensive Player of the Week nod this season as she previously garnered the February 15 and March 8 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week awards.
Over the weekend, she posted nine saves and three steals in the Hoosiers' opening round victory over Brown University (8-5 W). She contributed eight saves as Indiana upset No. 11-ranked Hartwick College to advance to the program's third Eastern Championship game.
In the title game, she posted six saves as the Hoosiers nearly upset No. 7 University of Michgian in a 7-5 loss to finish with the program's highest finish since Indiana finished second to the Wolverines at the 2005 tournament.
Her performance at the Eastern Championship raised her sophomore save total to 206 as she became the sixth Hoosier to record 200 saves in a season.
For her career, she now has 404 saves in two seasons at Indiana to rank fifth on the school's all-time save list.
