BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Another year, another final No. 1 national ranking for the California Polytechnic State University Mustangs as the 2009 and 2010 National Collegiate Club champions earned 100 points to rate as a unanimous top pick in the April 29 and final club rankings for the 2010 women's season.
The results of the 2010 National Collegiate Club Championship last weekend at the University of Arizona had a dramatic impact on the final rankings as the University of Michigan climbs two places to No. 2, the University of California-Santa Cruz jumps two spots to No. 3, the University of California-Los Angeles slips to No. 4 and the University of Oregon moves up one slot to No. 5.
The University of Notre Dame is the first team to lose places in the poll as the Fighting Irish drop back to No. 6, while the University of Pennsylvania climbs to No. 7 this week to displace the University of California-Davis.
One of the largest jumps belongs to the University of Central Florida which rises 10 places to No. 9 after ranking No. 19 in the April 22 Poll. The University of Arizona also experienced a dramatic improvement in fortunes as the Wildcats close out the year ranked at No. 10 in the nation.
The University of Utah also moves up in the poll this week as the Utes take over the No. 11 spot. Grand Valley State University, University of California-Berkeley and Middlebury College account for the No. 12-15 rankings in the poll, with Texas A&M University, University of Colorado, University of California-San Diego, San Diego State University and Boston College rounding out the final Top 20 selections for the 2010 season.
