Penn State Behrend's Stef Pontillo Named April 19 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie & Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State University-Behrend's Stefania Pontillo (Fr., Erie, Pa./McDowell) contributed three goals and four steals in a 6-4 victory over Chatham University to earn the April 19 Women's Varsity Division III Player and Rookie of the Week awards.
Trailing 4-1 at half, Pontillo took charge and scored two goals in the third quarter to bring the game within one marker. Thanks to help from her teammates in the fourth quarter she put the final touches on the game with her third score with 3:12 remaining on the clock to put the Lions up 6-4. Pontillo also grabbed four steals for the game, including three in the fourth quarter to key the Lady Lions to their fourth victory of the season in preparation for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship on Friday-Saturday, April 23-24 at Utica College.
