Penn State Behrend's Hillary MacManus Named April 19 Women's Varsity Division III Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State University-Behrend goalie Hillary MacManus (Jr., Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) played two quarters in goal versus Chatham University and made eight saves in a 6-4 victory to earn the April 19 Women's Varsity Division III Defensive Player of the Week award.
Out of commission for three weeks with a concussion, MacManus allowed one goal with 7:19 left in the second quarter and leaving the Behrend Lions in a 4-0 deficit. Along with a hard charging defense, MacManus and fellow netminder Jenna Zeyfang (Sr., Erie, Pa./Erie First Academy) kept the Cougars scoreless for the remaining part of the game as the Behrend Lions rallied back for a 6-4 victory.
Trailing by one score with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter, MacManus faced a five-meter penalty shot which she stopped and fed to the Lions' offense to help Penn State tie the game with 5:22 remaining.
MacManus' penalty block was one of her eight saves on the game as she also grabbed three steals to highlight the Behrend Lions fourth victory of the season.
