Gannon Ends Three-Week Lay-Off with 10-5 Victory over Washington & Jefferson
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Gannon University women's water polo team showed little rust from its three-week lay-off as the Lady Knights opened a 7-2 halftime lead and posted a 10-5 victory against Washington & Jefferson College. The non-conference match was played at Grove City College.
Saturday's action was Gannon's first since the squad played at Indiana University's Fluid 5 Tournament March 27-28. The Lady Knights led 4-2 after one quarter, 7-2 at halftime and 9-3 after three frames.
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) led the scoring attack with four goals. Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) added two scores each.
Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) and Kendra Plackemeier (Bonsall, Calif./Fallbrook) chipped in one goal a piece. Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) recorded six saves between the pipes.
Gannon improved to 9-18 overall with Saturday's opening victory. Washington & Jefferson dropped to 9-8.
