Maryland's Rachel Stein Named April 5 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Maryland goalie Rachel Stein (Fr., Ottawa, Ontario/Lisgar Collegiate Institute) made six saves to pick up the win in a 5-4 OT victory against George Washington University and earn the April 5 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
She combined with fellow goalie Shelby Reyes (So., Miami, Fla./Gulliver Preparatory) for the Terrapins' 10 saves in the game. Playing the second half and overtime, Stein made several key saves down the stretch and into extra time to keep the Colonials at bay and allow the Terrapins to pick up the win.
The award marks her fourth weekly honor from the CWPA as she previously picked up the February 8 and March 1 Southern Division Rookie of the Week awards and the February 8 Defensive Player of the Week award.
On the year, she has 82 saves with 72 goals against for a .532 save percentage.
