Brown's Stephanie Laing Named March 29 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown's Stephanie Laing (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) tallied 53 saves and six steals to lead the Bears to a 3-2 record on the West Coast and earn the March 29 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

The award marks her fourth Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week nod and the seventh weekly award from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) in her career.  A three-time Northern Division Player of the Week (February 16 & April 27, 2009; March 19, 2007), she previously garnered the Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award on February 22, March 1 and March 8. 

In Brown's first game on the West Coast, she registered 13 saves during an 11-7 loss to No. 9-ranked Loyola Marymount University.  She went 2-0 in the Bears' next two games against Fresno Pacific University (12-4 W) and Sonoma State University (8-4 W) with 11 and eight stops, respectively.

Following an 11-save performance against No. 15-ranked University of California-Davis (10-6 L), she notched 10 stops in a 9-7 upset of No. 18-ranked California State University-Bakersfield (9-7 W).
