Gannon Gets By Grove City 12-9
ERIE, Pa. -- The Gannon University women's water polo team beat Grove City College 12-9 at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion (CAP) on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 24. Colleen Harriger (So., Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored four goals to lead the Lady Knights' attack.
GU went ahead 4-2 after one quarter and led 7-5 at halftime. The Knights kept up the pressure in the second half, scoring two goals in the third before adding three decisive scores in the final period.
Annie Greenhill (Sr., Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) and Molly Andrews (So., Tustin, Calif./Tustin) each recorded hat tricks. Rachel Rzymek (Sr., Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Kelly Steininger (Fr., Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) both scored one goal. Janelle Bartman (Fr., Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) made six saves in net.
Gannon (8-14) heads to the Fluid Five at Indiana University this weekend. The Knights will play three matches Saturday, March 27 against Indiana, Wagner College and California State University-East Bay on the first day of the event.
