This Defensive Player of the Week award marks her second accolade from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) this year as she previously garnered the February 8 Western Division Player of the Week award.

March 15 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll: Brittany May (University of Michigan)

The NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct (CSEC) is pleased to announce the following changes to the student-athlete sportsmanship award nomination process.  In an effort to simplify the process and support green initiatives, the NCAA is decreasing its use of paper and increasing the role of technology.  The instructions below outline the new process;  please keep them as a reference throughout the months of March and April in order to nominate your student-athletes.

March 15 – April 15

Institutions may access the Sportsmanship Award nomination form at www.ncaa.org/sportsmanship under the “Sportsmanship Award” tab. Each institution is permitted to nominate one male and one female.  To nominate, institutions must:

Complete one .PDF form per nominee (type directly on the form and save), ensuring each nominee fulfills the criteria listed on the form.

Forward one nomination form and completed signature page per nominee via e-mail attachment to their conference office contact not later than April 15. Independent institutions should forward nomination forms and signature pages directly to the NCAA.

It is strongly suggested that institutions scan the completed signature pages and forward them via e-mail attachment with the nomination forms.  If institutions do not have scanning capabilities, the signature pages may be faxed. Again, only independent institutions may submit nominations directly to the NCAA.   All other institutions must submit nominations through their conference office.

NCAA contact for independent institutions:

Angela Williams

awilliams@ncaa.org

Phone:  317/917-6200

Fax:  317/917-6302

Throughout the nomination process, conference offices are responsible for collecting and saving all forms, ensuring signature pages are included.

April 15

Institutions’ nominations due.

April 16 – 30

Conference offices must:

review and select one male and one female nominee as  their conference nomination.

enter their conference selections at www.ncaa.org/sportsmanship under the “Sportsmanship Award” tab. Conference representatives may cut and paste the information from the .PDF documents received from the institutions into the form or type it manually.

April 30

Conferences’ nominations due.

May 10 – June 3

The CSEC reviews all nominations and selects one male and one female from each division.  The three males and three females are named divisional sportsmanship award winners.  From those six, the committee selects one overall male and one overall female NCAA Student-Athlete Sportsmanship Award winner.

July 1

The NCAA notifies all conferences and independent institutions of winners.

July 8

Congratulatory letters sent to the winners.

July 16

The public is notified of winners (e.g., postings in various NCAA media).

September

CSEC representatives begin visiting winners’ campuses for award presentations.
