Bucknell Opens California Swing with 8-3 Win Versus CSU-San Bernardino
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Kandis Canonica (Burlingame, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep), Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) and Hallie Kennan (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) each posted multi-goal games as the Bucknell University women’s water polo team opened its Spring Break trip to California with an 8-3 victory over California State University-San Bernardino on Sunday, March 14. It was the second consecutive win for the Bison, who improved to 7-5 with the victory.
Canonica registered a team-high three goals for the second straight game, while Rozas and Kennan contributed two apiece. Kennan also dished out a pair of assists to give her a team-high four points in the contest.
Bucknell’s defense was strong throughout, never allowing Cal State San Bernardino more than a goal in any quarter. The Bison totaled 15 steals, including three apiece by Shana Palencia (Glendale, Calif./Hoover), Rozas and Haley Prickett (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar).
Alison Carter (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) registered six saves in goal for Bucknell, while Brittany Connell (Montebello, Calif./Montebello) had one while playing a scoreless final two minutes.
The three goals Cal State San Bernardino tallied were a season low for a Bison opponent.
