Carthage Goes 1-3 at Chapman Invitational
ORANGE, Calif. --
The Carthage College women’s water polo team (6-6), ranked
ninth in the March 10 Collegiate Water Polo Association’s
NCAA Division III coaches poll, went 1-3 at Chapman University
Tournament at the Allred Aquatics Center in Orange, Calif on March
12-13
On Friday, March 12, the Lady Reds lost to No. 5 Occidental
College,14-8, before falling to No. 8 Whittier College (6-5) by a
10-4 margin. On Saturday, March 13, Carthage defeated No. 6 Chapman
(3-6), 9-6, before losing to No. 3 the University of Redlands
(1-6), 21-2. The Lady Reds were scheduled to conclude play in the
tournament by playing the 10 the University of LaVerne on March 13,
but that match was canceled due a shortage of healthy Leopard
players.
Kimmy Genian (Jr., Gurnee, Ill./Highland Park)
scored two goals in Carthage’s 10-4 loss to Whittier College
on March 12, and she had six goals in the team’s 9-6 decision
over Chapman on March 13.
Carthage split a pair of matches on Thursday, March 11 in
California. Carthage lost to No. 2 California Lutheran University
(5-9), 17-7, at the Samuelson Aquatic Center in Thousand Oaks,
Calif., before defeating the California Institute of Technology
(1-2) by a 14-8 margin at the Braun and Alumni Pool in Pasadena,
Calif.
