Grove City's Amanda Johnson Named March 8 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Grove City College goalie Amanda Johnston (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) made 49 saves and swiped 12 steals with one assist to earn the March 8 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie of the Week award and lead the No. 9-nationally ranked Wolverines to a 5-0 weekend in CWPA Division III play.

Competing at Chatham University in the CWPA Division III "Central-vs.-Western Region Tournament", she anchored the Wolverines' defense in handling Wheaton College (Ill.), Chatham, Macalester College, Carthage College (Wisc.) and No. 8-ranked Washington & Jefferson College.

Following a four save performance against Wheaton (10-5 W) and a five save appearance in limited minutes against Chatham (13-6 W), she notched a 14-save game in a 14-7 victory over Macalester.

She wrapped up the weekend with 10 saves and four steals against Carthage (13-5 W) and 15 stops against W&J (13-5 W) to finish the weekend with a .680 save percentage.
