Bucknell's Valentina Rozas Named March 8 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Valentina Rozas (Sr., Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) of Bucknell University drew eight ejections, blocked two shots and collected five steals to go along with four goals and six assists at the 2010 Elite Eight Tournament on the campus of Indiana University to earn notice as the March 8 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Against No. 8-ranked the Univeristy of Michigan, she contributed a goal, three ejections drawn, two field blocks and a steal in a 13-7 loss. She added a goal, two assists, three ejections drawn and a pair of steals versus No. 17 Brown University (12-7 L), before adding two goals, four assists, two ejections drawn and two steals against Harvard University (13-12 L OT).
The team leader in steals (17) and ejections drawn (22) this season, her six points against Harvard equaled a season high.
