Hartwick's Sasha Freeborn Named March 8 Women's Varsity Northern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College freshmen Sasha Freeborn (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls College) netted seven goals, four assists and three steals in a 2-1 weekend for the No. 11-ranked Hawks at the Elite Eight Tournament hosted by Indiana University to earn the March 8 Women's Varsity Northern Division Rookie of the Week award.
The fourth player to earn the award in five weeks, Freeborn posteda goal, two assists and a steal versus No. 20 Princeton University (10-8 W) in the opening round, before contributing two goals, an assist adn three kickouts drawn in a semifinal victory over the University of Maryland (11-8 W).
Facing the No. 8-ranked Wolverines of the Unviersity of Michigan in the tournament title game, she slashed the Maize and Blue for four goals, an assist, two steals and three kickouts drawn in an 11-8 defeat.
