Brown's Stephanie Laing Named March 8 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- For the third week in a row, Brown University goalie Stephanie Laing (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) is the Women's Varsity Northern Division Player of the Week as she recorded 30 saves over three games to lead the No. 18 Bears at the 2010 Elite Eight Tournament at Indiana University.

The award marks her third-consecutive Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week nod and the sixth weekly award from the CWPA in her career.  A three-time Northern Division Player of the Week (February 16 & April 27, 2009; March 19, 2007), she previously garnered the Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award on February 22 and March 1.

In addition, she becomes only the second women's player in league history to record three-consecutive weekly awards as Hartwick College's Kirsten Hudson received the April 16, 23 and 30, 2007 Northern Division Player of the Week awards.

At the Elite Eight hosted by Indiana University, she added to her legacy among the premier goalies in the history of the Northern Division making seven saves in a 9-1 loss to No. 17 Indiana and 12 stops in a 12-5 victory over Bucknell University.  Laing wrapped up the weekend with 10 saves in a 7-5 loss to No. 20 Princeton University.
