Grove City's Chelsea Johnson Named March 8 Women's Varsity Division III Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Chelsea Johnson (So., Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) of Grove City College scored 23 goals, handed out an assist and grabbed nine steals to lead the No. 9-nationally ranked Wolverines to a 5-0 record in CWPA Division III play and earn the March 8 Women's Varsity Division III Player of the Week award.

Competing at Chatham University as part of the CWPA Division III Western Region vs. Central Region Tournament, she powered the Wolverines to victories over Wheaton College (Ill.), Chatham, Macalester College, Carthage College (Wisc.) and No. 8-ranked Washington & Jefferson College to put Grove City in first place in the divsion.

Versus Wheaton in the Wolverines' opening game of the tournament, she posted four goals and five steals as part of a 10-5 victory.  She tacked on a hat-trick against Chatham (13-6 W) before racking up a pair of markers versus Macalester (14-7 W). 

Her best games of the week came in the final two contests of the weekend as she pumped in seven goals against both Carthage and Washington & Jefferson in a pair of 13-5 victories.

Overall, she scored on 51% of her shots over the weekend, while chipping in five ejections drawn and registering two five-meter penalties to help the Wolverines continue a six-game winning streak and improve to 6-4 on the season.
