Bucknell's Hallie Kennan Named March 1 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hallie Kennan (So., Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) of Bucknell University scored eight goals to lead the Bison to a fifth place finish at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and earn notice as the March 1 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week.
Following limited minutes in a 10-5 opening round loss to the University of Maryland due to the flu in the morning, she rallied back less than seven hours later to post-up a career high six goals and a steal in a 17-16 win against Iona College in overtime.
Versus Iona, her fifth goal of the contest came in the closing seconds of regulation when she unleashed a long shot which found the back of the cage to tie the game at 15-15. She tacked on her sixth marker for the deciding score in the one-goal victory.
She wrapped up the weekend and the ECAC Tournament with two goals and a steal in a 9-7 victory over Harvard University as the Bison placed fifth in the final standings.
On the season, Kennan leads the
team with a career-high 18 goals and is second on the squad with 22
points. She also has four steals and a pair of ejections drawn.
Last year Kennan was honored twice as the CWPA Southern Division
Rookie of the Week, but this is her first career Player of the Week
citation.
