No. 17 Princeton University Overcomes Maryland 10-5 in ECAC Championship Semifinals
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton University Tigers will appear in their fourth Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship title game as the No. 17-nationally ranked Tigers built a 6-1 halftime lead and held on for a 10-5 victory over the University of Maryland in the a semifinal of the 2010 ECAC Championship.

(Sr., Solana Beach, Calif./The Bishop's School) and
Lauren Brunner (Jr., Sacramenton,
Calif./St. Francis) gave Princeton a 2-0 lead in the first
quarter and the Tigers continued to pull away, leading 6-1 at the
half and 8-3 after three quarters. Phoebe Champion (Sr.,
Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Brunner led Princeton
with three goals each.
Kristen Ward (So., Sacramento, Calif./St.
Francis) made eight saves in the win. Princeton advances
to the ECAC Championship game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m against either
No. 20-ranked Brown University or Marist College.
A six-time titleist (2000, 2001,
2003, 2005, 2006, 2007), Princeton is hosting the championship for
the fourth time as the Garden State was previously the site of the
2000, 2001 and 2003 tournaments. In all three championships,
Princeton exited DeNunzio with the championship plaque. Overall,
the host team has now reached the title game six times in the 11
women's ECAC Championships, as Brown advanced and fell in the 2004
title game, while Bucknell University captured the 2008 crown.
