Michigan's Leah Robertson Named February 22 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Senior Leah Robertson (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of No. 5-nationally ranked the University of Michigan scored 11 goals to accompany five assists and 10 steals in a 4-0 weekend for the Wolverines at the Princeton Invitational to earn notice as the February 22 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week.
The January 25 Western Division Player of the Week, her selection marks the seventh time Robertson has been honored by the Collegiate Water Polo Association as the division's Player of the Week.
Her best game of the weekend came against No. 12-ranked Hartwick College in a rematch of the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009 CWPA Eastern Championship title games as she tallied six markers, including five in the second period to build a 10-4 halftime lead. In addition, she chipped in two assists and three steals to key the Wolverines to a 14-11 victory.
Against No. 20-ranked and host Princeton University, she netted four goals with an assist and three steals as part of a 13-10 win, before tallying a steal in a 13-3 victory over Harvard University. She wrapped up the weekend with a goal and three steals in a 12-5 defeat of Wagner College.
Overall, Roberton's performance pushed her into sixth place in career goals (133), fourth in assists (114) and fourth in points (249) in the history of the sport at the University of Michigan.
